Roles and tasks can often be ambiguous and not clearly, defined especially where multi-tasking is an essential factor in small workforces. This can cause issues within teams or divisions, as well as leading to a reduced quality of performance that can influence service delivery levels or lead to failure in achieving desired outcomes.
Other common issues found relate to skill levels of the individuals, and people management skills in supervisors and managers that lead to poor performance or behaviours that do not adequately get addressed. Some get poorly managed leading to industrial relations issues that can be very time consuming and costly. Issues arising from these can be addressed short term, but then strategies need to be developed to identify and address the underlying symptoms.
